Joyce VanDyk
Joyce graduated in 2002 from a 3000 hour program at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon. She took post grad training with the Dr. Vodder School of North America for Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy. Joyce has been a Vodder Certified MLD Therapist since 2006, but this is just one technique she uses. Joyce favours Myofascial release and finds it to be very effective in treatment. She also likes to integrate a variety of other soft tissue techniques including Swedish, trigger point therapy and deep tissue massage throughout her treatments to achieve optimal results. She has experience working in both a multidisciplinary clinic and spa environment.
Her hands are her tools and she takes pride in that. She likes to utilize what she has learned over the years and pulls those out of her “tool box” when needed to create a custom treatment plan. She’s very intuitive and has a calm presence about her. Fun facts: Joyce recently moved from Chilliwack with her husband and are both looking forward to the Shuswap lifestyle. She enjoys golf and strives to improve her game, as well as fly fishing and going to the gym. She has a background in Fashion Design.
Information about Manual Lymphatic Drainage: Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a very gentle technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues. It does not involve any oils or lotions and can be very calming on the nervous system. MLD can be used as a form of treatment for: edemas, lipedema, post orthopaedic surgeries, sprains/strains, burn, CRPS, dermatological conditions, and Pre- and post- plastic surgery to name a few. Decongestive therapy is wrapping with special bandages as part of a treatment plan in managing certain conditions.
