Dr. Darren McNaughton
The Path to Chiropractic
Dr. Darren McNaughton worked as a machinist in a large manufacturing plant and injured his shoulder moving a heavy block of steel. He went to his medical doctor at the time and was told a cortisone shot in the shoulder joint would solve the problem and he would be back working the same week. Two weeks later he couldn’t even lift his arm. He had one visit with his chiropractor and he started to regain use of his arm. A few weeks later he was as good as new.
Dr. McNaughton had always been into fitness and nutrition and all things natural. After his shoulder injury he knew he needed to follow a different path. Chiropractic fit perfectly.
Chiropractic Education
Dr. McNaughton chose Northwestern College of Chiropractic (now Northwestern Health Sciences University) in Bloomington, Minnesota because of its excellent education standards and its high pass rates of the Canadian Board exams.
Away from the Office
He has been married to his wife Mary for 35 years and they have one beautiful daughter named April. They enjoy hiking, riding their e-bikes and most recently since living in the Shuswap, boating. They lived and practiced in Scotland for six years before moving to Sorrento. Upon returning they took a year off and built their home themselves. In his spare time he builds custom motorcycles and has been lucky enough to have a couple of magazine features.
Living a Healthy Life
Dr. McNaughton has been adjusted about once a week for 30 years as has his family (my daughter only 22 years). He does some form of workout everyday, some days he lifts weights, runs and sometimes he just walks. He rarely eats grains or dairy, and focuses his diet on veggies, and quality protein( grass fed beef, fish, free range chicken). As a family they don’t take pharmaceutical drugs, his daughter has never had a prescription.
